Ils me
d’autobus vers Labrador City.
I headed for the Great North, direction: Labrador. I had a pile of books with me that served as a sort of bindle. I used them as a pillow when the hours dragged on. I hitchhiked for a while before buying a bus ticket to Labrador City. A plague of prospectors had recently descended upon it, brandishing official signatures that allowed them to come dig, unearth
whatever they saw fit. I had just wanted to give it a shot, but the wind blew me into an old abandoned mine.

The meeting had been scheduled for seven, we were
supposed to go out looking for some poor fool who’d chosen to ignore the old saying, “Never go it alone, and rarely in a pair.” A handful of men refused to take part when they heard that the reward they’d been hoping for didn’t exist. Our will remained strong. It’s not like we were going to let a few cowards call the shots. Despite all that, we left the next day, each of us feeling more or less hopeful that we’d end up finding him alive. He’d been missing for almost three weeks. After two days, I was the only one who didn’t want to give up. I was able to convince one of my good buds to come out one last time. As if by accident, we found him a few hours later at
the bottom of a mine. The body was already barely
recognizable. But most surprisingly, it was surrounded by several types of diamonds.

(A Trilogy of Non Sequiturs)
Part I – A Letter to Fate: You can’t keep me from making my own plans. I’ve got this little thing I’m working on with a bass guitar and drums. And I will get it done. I measure worth in fun, then add it to the sum. I will deal with you if ever you intrude. I’m ready to drop it all… and take it up from wherever I left off, no matter the cost.
Part II – Unsubtle: Head in the stove, feet in the fridge. My body temperature's normal on average. All that matters is that they get their share. They’re willing to step on our fingers in order to climb that ladder.
Part III – The Clearing: I landed on the shore. The clearing drew me in. I just wasn’t able to ignore its pristine beauty. It was leafy green, and the trees, they bowed before me. I had a sinking feeling. When I looked down, I was up to my knees. But the brightest bird stayed. I pulled myself out of the muskeg
and headed back to my place.
Je me débrouillerai si jamais tu t’imposes.
